CommVault's Simpana 8 Solution Gets Accredited By Telecommunications Technology Association of Korea

Certificate of Software Quality, which is issued by the Telecommunications Technology Association of Korea for its enterprise data management software called CommVault (News - Alert) Simpana 8.

The TTA is a nonprofit organization that determines and evolves standards which are tailor made for the Korean IT segment. It also delivers independent testing facilities and related certification services for a whole array of IT offerings, including software solutions. The companies who receive the prestigious GS certification from the TTA (News - Alert) are able to carry a guarantee that their products have been thoroughly tested using their testing facilities and can be recommended for use by the Korean government and other corporate clients without any risk.

In order for the CommVault Simpana 8 to receive the TTA accreditation, the software was put through a precise and meticulous 26-day testing schedule at its testing facilities. These comprised several complicated procedures like testing the backup and recovery across multiple platforms and backup ecosystems like Unix, Windows, Oracle (News - Alert) and NDMP, the capability of the solution to archive and recall data under Windows and NetApp operating systems, content indexing and the capability of the application to support VTL and SAN. Simpana 8 satisfied all the parameters under these tests and was subsequently awarded the GS Certificate 09 0116 by the TTA.

“The certification gives our customers the comfort that our products have been tested by independent experts,” CommVault Korea Country Manager, David Kwon, said in a statement. “This is particularly important to government departments who insist on standards being demonstrably met. It can also be a key factor in the decision making process for smaller Korean companies who may not have the technical skills to test every claim a company may make.”

The CommVault Simpana software makes use of a singular information management approach to satisfy enterprise critical functions like data protection, backup, archive, duplication, resource management and search; this is the path less trodden and most contemporary data management software solutions do not follow this model. The entire software solution has been built with a single unified code base right from scratch and it makes use of common platform modules. This helps users easily communicate with each other in a seamless internet space and also conduct all data management activities in a fast, simple and dependable manner from one PC interface.

Users can also benefit from a comprehensive and all-in-one view of managed data across all applications, platforms, appliances and sites.
