SAS Selects AT&T for Networking Services in Latin America

SAS, a major player in business analytics software and services and an independent vendor in the business intelligence market, reportedly has selected AT&T for global networking services to connect SAS' sites in Latin America.

According to a press release, SAS, as part of the three year agreement, will use AT&T (News - Alert) to connect five locations in Brazil, Argentina and Chile through Virtual Private Network (VPN).

Officials said that the AT&T VPN provides SAS (News - Alert) with dedicated connections to integrate its employees and partners more effectively, create synergies across their regional operations, and enable a faster launch of new services.

"We selected AT&T as our single provider to seamlessly manage our local, regional and global requirements," said Gerson Fogaca, IT Manager of SAS Brasil, in the release.

Fogaca said his company’s service levels have improved by integrating many of critical business applications, allowing achieving greater productivity across the company’s office locations and, at the same time, decreasing overall IT expenditures.

"We are committed to providing high level services and advanced technologies that facilitate SAS to continue deploying innovative solutions in support of its growth in the region," said Eduardo Farinelli, AT&T business solutions sales center vice president for South America.

Farinelli said that the agreement with SAS to support its Latin American operations extends a long-term global relationship focused on delivering a reliable and secure backbone that allows SAS to streamline its IT applications across a single platform.

TMCnet in September reported that AT&T has signed a three-year contract with Collect America, a company in the debt purchasing and asset recovery management industry, to become a primary networking services provider.

AT&T services are intended to facilitate greater business efficiencies for Collect America and support its business growth.

Officials said that AT&T will provide Virtual Private Network, or VPN, service for Collect America's 35 domestic locations and will facilitate the ability of remote locations, franchises and law offices to access necessary applications to perform important business tasks.
