Teknuvo, Inc., a global consulting and technology company focused on helping startup businesses to build an online business strategy, announced recently that its Web Development Center in Belgrade, Serbia, set to open late fall 2009, will serve as a gateway for IT professionals and developers trained in Serbia.
Serbia is known throughout Eastern Europe for its expertise in the IT sector. There are more than 2,700 IT companies throughout Serbia, offering a diversified range of services, including telecommunication providers, software engineers and world-class systems integration firms.
“The Technology Development Center is a great example of aligning the emerging Serbian economy and talented IT experts with established Western businesses,” said Jasna Matic, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Society, Republic of Serbia, in a press release.
“We hope to see the duplication of success that Beslic has seen with his business venture, CheapToday.com, and we are delighted that Boston-based businesses are spearheading this effort with the Republic of Serbia,” added Matic.
Initiated by the Serb-American entrepreneur Milenko Beslic, the Web Development Center will be used by CheapToday.com, co-founded by Beslic, along with other online businesses seeking development in the latest web based technologies.
According to the release, the center will initially work with startups in competitive markets such as Boston and will also receive support from Serbia’s Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society and Serbia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (SIEPA), a specialized governmental agency supporting foreign direct investments in Serbia.
“As a founding member of both www.cheapflights.com and www.cheaptoday.com here in Boston, I am constantly striving to leverage the software and engineering talent of my homeland in Serbia to benefit Boston’s strong community of entrepreneurs and web based businesses.” said Milenko Beslic, chief technology officer and co-founder of CheapToday.com.
“The Teknuvo development lab will provide Serbia’s top talent the opportunity to work on the latest web technologies and give Boston area businesses like www.cheaptoday.com a chance to lower software development costs,” Beslic added.
Reportedly, the Center will focus on assisting Boston based companies in advancing their own online technology businesses, by providing them with the latest web technologies and online marketing techniques. Alternatively, it will also work closely with the university system in Serbia to ensure that students are getting trained with the required technical skills to match with the demands of US technology companies and start-ups.
