Vringo Intros Social Caller ID and Video Rintone Application for Google Android Phones

Vringo, a next-generation ringtone provider, has released the first social caller ID and video ringtone application for Google Android phones, Vringo for Android: Beta.

 

The Vringo (News - Alert) application redefines the traditional caller ID experience letting users find, create and continue to share full screen video ringtones with their friends, according to company officials.

 

With Vringo for Android (News - Alert): Beta, users can make their own video ringtones with the touch of a button – either by using their phone’s camera to develop on the fly creations or by uploading any video stored in their phone’s memory.

 

Also, Android users can browse in-app, a catalog of thousands of free and premium video ringtones from Vringo’s collection, including premium content from Marvel Entertainment, Cartoon Network, Mobstar, Adult Swim and more.

 

Using VringForward, an inverted ringback technology, Vringo brings video caller ID to users of Android, said officials. Moreover, coupled with Vringo’s ‘create-your-own-ringtone’ feature, users can pre-record various status or mood updates and send them to their friends without talking to them.

 

Users of Vringo for Android: Beta can share videos with other Android device users. Also, users can share videos with users having BlackBerry (News - Alert), Symbian, Windows Mobile and J2ME devices, company officials said.

 

Jon Medved (News - Alert), CEO at Vringo, noted that in this era of net-connected, application-centric, “able-to-do-a-million-and-one-things” mobile devices, it’s easy to overlook the most basic aspect of phone usage: making a call.

“We’ve been obsessed with making this fundamental aspect of the phone experience as dynamic and personal as any other, which you’ll notice immediately when you fire up Vringo’s new Android application,” added Medved.

 

Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications that run on Android-powered devices.

 

Earlier in September, Vringo teamed up with Marvel Entertainment to create and distribute mobile videos and video ringtones based on Marvel’s legendary library of Super Heroes.
