Buffalo Technology to Sell SuperSpeed USB3.0 External Hard Drives in 4Q09

Buffalo Technology, a provider of storage and wireless networking solutions, has announced the first-to-market SuperSpeed USB 3.0 external hard disk drive, the DriveStation HD-HXU3.

Based on the latest SuperSpeed technology, DriveStation HD-HXU3 offers transfer speeds of up to 125MB/s. The drives are available with 1.0TB, 1.5TB and 2.0TB capacities.

SuperSpeed USB brings significant performance enhancements to the ubiquitous USB standards while offering compatibility with all varieties of USB enabled devices currently deployed in the market. SuperSpeed USB will deliver 10 times the data transfer rate of Hi-Speed USB, as well as improved power efficiency. SuperSpeed USB is backwards compatible with USB 2.0.devices.

With greater capacity and speed, the new DriveStation HD-HXU3 gives users the ability to quickly back up important data and share office work, digital photos, music and movies from one central location, officials at Buffalo Technology claimed.

“The new DriveStation HD-HXU3 combines both USB 3.0 performance, and the latest hard disk technology, tied in with Japanese based Buffalo's renowned high quality design to create a massive jump in performance, copying Gigabyte files in just seconds,” said Tim Scale, EMEA product marketing director, Buffalo Technology, in a statement.

The DriveStation HD-HXU3 was recently showcased at the USB 3.0 Intel (News - Alert) Developer Forum 9 (IDF) in San Francisco on 22nd September, 2009. The Buffalo DriveStation HD-HXU3 and USB controller will be available in Europe, Middle East and Africa in Q409, officials said.

Buffalo Technology recently announced the launch of its AirStation N-Technology HighPower ADSL+ Modem Router, designed to eliminate 'dead spots' and boost wireless ranges and connection speeds.

Built on the latest wireless LAN technology, these routers deliver high speed Internet connections that can be up to three times faster than Wireless-G, offering speeds of up to 150 Mbps thanks to innovative N-technology. A built-in ADSL Modem and 100Mbps 4-Port Router ensure the product is fully equipped for the demands of the home network or small office.
