The registration of Wind River Linux 3.0 distribution as CGL 4.0 compliant for MIPS architectures offers carrier-grade functionality for chip architectures to customers. Carrier Grade Linux is critical for the network equipment companies, 3G and 4G network infrastructure companies and other markets where availability, scalability and service response characteristics are needed.
Wind River Linux 3.0 with CGL 4.0 compliance for MIPS architectures are required in vertical markets comprising of aerospace, defense, industrial, medical and networking industries, said company sources.
The company released Wind River Linux 3.0 in March this year, along with the CGL 4.0 for PowerPC and x86 architecture-based processors from Freescale and Intel (

Alert). The CGL 4.0 compliant product for MIPS architectures is now available for shipping to customers, said company sources.
Wind River platforms are pre-integrated, fully standardized, enterprise-wide development solutions. They are suitable for companies to develop, run and manage device software rapidly and cost effectively.

Customers making use of this combination of Cavium and Wind River products will be able to develop highly reliable products required by the networking industry, he said.
