Reportedly, since this announcement, Psystar's systems is said to have undergone rigorous testing with the newest version of OS X to ensure compatibility with Open Computers. Further to this, the newest version of OS X is now offered as an option on all new Psystar machines.
Psystar is committed to the development of open and innovative computing solutions. This deal with Apple has positioned the company to pioneer the open OS X market, and to unveil its virtualization technology to enable native-speed performance of the operating system and expand the range of hardware platforms available to OS X users.
Psystar will soon release benchmarking results for its popular Rebel series of OS X compatible systems with the new Snow Leopard benchmarks. The OS X Leopard benchmarks (available at Psystar.com) highlight the significant price-performance advantage of Psystar Rebel systems over comparable Macintosh systems. Psystar expects the price-performance advantage of its Rebel systems to increase further with Snow Leopard running on top of Psystar's new virtualization technology.
OS X, OS X Leopard, Leopard, OS X Snow Leopard, Snow Leopard and Macintosh are products and trademarks of Apple, Inc. The deal that Psystar has signed with Apple has enabled the company to purchase copies of these operating systems to resell as part of its Open Computer systems.
Customers can pre-order a Psystar Snow Leopard compatible machine now. Psytar will soon be beginning shipping the new Snow Leopard compatible systems starting next week.
