BLADE Network Technologies has reportedly
announced that its VMready is available for use with the HP 1:10Gb Ethernet BL-c switch. A part of BLADE's Cloud Ready Network Architecture, VMready supports thousands of virtual switch ports.
VMready lets networks be Virtual Machine aware. It helps to configure and manage the networks for virtual ports, rather than just physical ports. It also lets virtual machines be added, moved and removed while retaining the same ACLs, QoS and VLAN attributes. It works virtualization products, including VMware, Microsoft’s (

With VMready, data center managers can build virtual infrastructures for today's active workloads. It enables virtualization across the data center infrastructure instead of focusing just on virtualizing individual servers. This provides advantages such as advanced energy efficiency, improved business continuity, greater productivity and better resource utilization.
“In cloud computing and enterprise data center environments, BLADE supports HP's efforts to leverage the benefits of virtualization across the infrastructure," said Dan Tuchler, vice president of Strategy and Product Management, BLADE Network Technologies, in a statement. "In today's bandwidth-intensive virtualization infrastructures, network policies must move along with Virtual Machines to maintain application performance, availability and security, which is exactly what VMready is all about.”
As part of the SmartConnect software upgrade to new and previously installed HP 1:10Gb Ethernet BL-c switches, VMready is available now for BLADE's BLADEHarmony Premium Services customers. The HP BladeSystem customers will get around-the-clock support and an entitlement to upgrade to new BLADE software products for a three-year period, when they opt for BLADEHarmony Premium Service. This service is priced at $600 for the HP 1:10Gb BL-c switch.
Recently, the company
announced plans to join hands with
Emulex Corporation and introduce a global co-marketing campaign to accelerate the adoption of converged networking in the data center. BLADE Network Technologies provides Gigabit and 10G Ethernet cloud-ready networking solutions for dynamic, enterprise data centers throughout. BLADE and Emulex will develop solution marketing initiatives and conduct joint business development activities.
