DMTI Spatial Announces a 17 Class Clutter Offering

A location intelligence solutions company in Canada has launched a 17 class Clutter offering, targeted for telecommunications, utilities and national security customers. This new offering, launched by DMTI Spatial, caters to the customer specific areas of interest in Canada.

Clutter combined with Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data is ideal for certain line of sight or propagation applications such as wireless pager, microwave, personal communication services and other wireless network planning. Clutter data is man-made and natural features, such as buildings and vegetation, which may interrupt radio frequency transmission waves.

To help engineers refine their signal loss prediction models according to the characteristics of the underlying terrain and ground cover, DMTI Spatial's Clutter Data has been developed for the Radio Frequency (RF) propagation environment.

DMTI Spatial's Clutter Data provides benefits such as improving service coverage and reducing dropped calls; predicting the performance of wireless services in transmission areas; optimizing transmission site locations and reducing infrastructure costs; and planning the build or redesigning your network.

“The new clutter offering can be utilized to help optimize transmission site locations, reduce infrastructure costs and improve ROI for our customers,” explained Robert Szyngiel, senior manager, content and product management, DMTI, in a release. “We are providing radio frequency engineers with the most rich, robust and reliable content available to perform effective infrastructure planning in a cost effective manner.”

DMTI also supports further analytics by offering additional synchronized datasets such as vector layers (roads, building footprints) and demographics. Sold as a premium addition to the Telecommunications Management Location Content Cartridge (LCC), the Clutter offering is available in 10 or 17 classes.

Recently, the company released the Beta version of its new User Interface (UI) for Location Hub, a robust, feature rich web application suite. Designed to enable the power of Location Intelligence within large organizations, Location Hub provides technology and data building blocks that are easily integrated into existing workflows for the timely delivery of information to solve urgent and pervasive business challenges.
