6WIND is expanding availability of its 6WINDGate embedded software solutions with
RMI. The move is expected to enhance 6WINDGate’s embedded networking design and application integration simplifications and performance advantages of RMI's multicore processors.
6WINDGate will be newly optimized for use on RMI's XLR and XLS multicore, multi-threaded processors. As per the agreement, 6WINDGate will be made available for customer evaluation across these RMI processor families.
6WINDGate allows engineers to quickly start working on application development and integration. The solution features an XML-based manageability interface that simplifies integration of networking and value-added features and apps and also maximizes customer software development reuse.
This feature not only makes integration of applications on RMI processors a more seamless process but also allows designers to maximize networking and application performance.
RMI's XLR processors enable applications such as integrated security, Web services, virtualized storage, load balancing and server offload, as well as content and application aware, multi-service routing and switching.
Both RMI and 6WIND will work towards optimizing the performance for specific application needs. The partnership will use all 6WINDGate profiles -- ADS, EDS (

Embedded designers and equipment manufacturers can use the combined solution as a software environment for all RMI multicore solutions. The companies claim this partnership enables an end-to-end simplified design process for all phases.
In a release, Mark Litvack, director, business development, for RMI explained that they have expanded their technology collaboration with 6WIND to optimize 6WINDGate for all their multicore solutions. This has enabled their customers to more easily implement real performance gains for their systems and applications.
Empowering customers with proven embedded software allows them to quickly and simply implement multicore applications. Litvack said this significantly reduces design costs and increases time to revenue for everyone.
“We've already jointly demonstrated the benefits of our collaboration with tier one customers and will continue to work with these and future customers to provide more optimizations,” Litvack said.
Dominique Lanfranchi, VP of sales, Europe & North America, for 6WIND, said the expansion of the technology partnership covers all RMI multicore solutions including, optimizing 6WINDGate with RMI's XLR and XLS product families.
He emphasized that this is a real testament to 6WINDGate as a reference solution for layer 2-4 embedded networking software, specifically designed for multicore.
"We are able to provide true performance gains for a variety of applications using RMI solutions including: telecommunications infrastructure equipment for 4G, LTE (
