Ideum Launches New MT-50 Multi-Touch, Multi-User Table

Ideum, a developer of computer-based exhibits and installations for museums across North America, has announced the launch of new MT-50 multi-touch, multi-user table.
The first two MT-50s reportedly will be installed at the Vancouver Aquarium in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in September 2009.

Supporting multi-touch and multi-user interactions, the MT-50 has a bright 50" (diagonal) surface with a high-resolution (1280 x 800) display. Ideum claims this display is higher than Microsoft's (News - Alert) Surface multi-touch table.

The tough frame of the MT-50 is built of aircraft-grade aluminum and 16-guage cold-rolled steel panels enclose the sides and bottom of the table.

Ideum officials inform that their new launch can work in just about any environment. The product can effectively operate in mixed light settings thanks to its innovative IR flood technology.

The company has used industrial grade components to build the MT Table and say that these can withstand the demands of busy museums, including hands-on science centers.

Jim Spadaccini, director of Ideum noted the effort they have put to continually improve the table and have worked hard to make it more responsive, and even tougher for museums and other public spaces.

The company is also offering an unlocked copy of Ideum's GestureWorks framework with the MT-50. This lets Flash developers create their own custom multi-touch applications.

The MT-50 is also equipped with Ideums Collection Viewer, a multi-touch enabled image and video viewer, and NUI's Snowflake Software, a fast and reliable gesture recognition multi-touch software package.
