Tinet Announces Further Expansion of Operations in North America

Tinet, formerly the carrier arm of Tiscali (News - Alert) Group, has announced the expansion of its operations in North America.

 

According to the company officials in the last Quarter, the company added 25 long haul backbone circuits across the US and opened three additional network Points of Presence “PoPs” in Newark, Dallas and Denver.

 

Tinet has also announced the start of the implementation, in New Jersey, of its third Network Operations Center (NOC (News - Alert)) to be completed by Q1 2010.

 

Officials said that this development is another important milestone as Tinet further extends its customer and technical support closer to its clients in the Americas.

 

In May 2009, BS Private Equity SpA, one of Italy's private equity firms, completed the acquisition of Tinet, formerly known as Tiscali International Network, providing further backing to Tinet global expansion.

 

"We've had an exciting year thus far and look forward to further network expansion next year; expanding into new regions, which are showing fast-growing connectivity demands," said Maurizio Binello, chief operating officer of Tinet, in a statement.

 

Binello said that through this expansion the company can give customers in new markets more choice, as well as extending its geographic reach to better fulfill existing customer requirements.

 

Tinet claims to be the only global carrier exclusively committed to the IP and Ethernet wholesale market. With network presence and customers in EMEA, Americas and APAC, Tinet provides global IP Transit and Ethernet connectivity to carriers, service and content Providers worldwide, within 7 working days.

 

The carrier guarantees customers proactive management of SLAs and protection from dDoS attacks.

 

Back in July Tinet and SURFnet, a national research and education network, had announced that Tinet was selected, to deliver high-quality IP transit, including IPv4, IPv6, and Multicast, for a five-year term over a 10 Gbps port to SURFnet in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

 

Following BELNET and HEAnet, SURFnet is the third research network to join Tinet, a clear indication of Tinet’s ability to deliver high quality, best-of-breed services within the IP data arena for the high-bandwidth research community.
