Certero has released the PowerStudio, a Web-based management application which can be used by companies to apply power policies and profiles, set cost savings and green targets and quickly see return on investments.
Certero claims that it helps companies achieve the best value from their IT investment and eliminate wasted spend on IT business assets.
The
DECC is planning to set an international agreement in Copenhagen in December 2009 and PowerStudio can help companies bring down utility wastes and create a low-carbon Britain as part of that agreement.
Certero has stated that over two thirds of emissions come from energy that is used to run businesses and companies can reduce their IT power consumptions by understanding their utility usage better. For example, if one PC is running ideally it can emit over half a ton of greenhouse gas annually and six ideally running PCs will release so much greenhouse gas that an acre of trees will be needed to restore it.
To help companies formulate a system to use their resources efficiently Certero has developed PowerStudio which effectively manages all desktop elements and demonstrably contribute to green computing targets to ensure organizations can reduce their drain on energy and financial resources.
In these challenging economic times, companies have to drive cost saving initiatives that need to have an ROI in months and not in years and also impress customers by projecting themselves as a low-carbon organization. PowerStudio, the web based Enterprise Energy Optimization Suite helps organizations achieve these objectives simply and efficiently. By applying centralized computer power policies organizations can prolong the life of their computer equipment, reduce their carbon footprint and potentially save thousands on electricity bills.
John Lunt, managing director and co-founder of Certero commented that they are happy to help businesses save power and meet the Government’s initiative of reducing carbon output by 80 percent by 2050. The even more exciting news is that UK is the first country to adopt a legally binding objective to reduce emissions. Within PowerStudio, every user is encouraged to reduce their individual carbon footprint through a point scoring system that award and deducts points depending on each user’s IT habits.
Certero had tested the PowerStudio in NHS PCT space, local government and the commercial sector, where initiatives such as the Low Carbon Industrial Strategy, from BERR and the Department of Energy and Climate Change, have been introduced and Certero claims it had received overwhelmingly positive results.
