Emerson Intros USB and CAN AC-DC Adaptor Modules

Emerson (News - Alert) Network Power has announced the introduction of three new case adaptor modules for its iMP and iVS series of digitally configurable AC-DC switching power supplies.

Officials with the company claim the new adaptors – the iVS12C USB, iVS CAN RS485 and iMP CAN RS485 - allow for USB and CAN Radio Standard 485 bus connectivity.

In addition, the new adaptors interface between the host device and the I2C bus with a simple set of commands to guarantee a significant number of permutation and combination configurability.

Emerson claims that its designers have architected the boards to withstand harsh environmental conditions for use in CANbus architectures as well as varied automotive networks, industrial networks, medical equipment and building automation systems.

The iVS CAN RS485 (shown below) to 12C interface is a digitally configurable power supply adaptor that can connect with CANbus architectures through CaseRx and Case Rx interfaces found on all iVS applications and can communicate with an onboard I2C Bus via MODbus Protocol for RS485 Bus and modified MODbus for CANbus.

 

The iMP CAN RS485 (shown below) is much like the iVS CAN RS485, with the only differences being that it is used for all iMP applications.

 

In addition, the iVS12C USB (shown below) is a USB to I2C interface adapter module for the iVS digitally configurable power. It connects to a standard USB port found on most PCs and provides bidirectional communication with devices using the I2C protocol. 

 

To optimize control flexibility, microcontrollers integrated into the case and modules are coupled with Emerson's user friendly I2C graphical user interface based control software. This helps configure and reconfigure voltages, current limits and enable settings for individual power supplies.
