T-Plan Takes Over VNCRobot

T-Plan, the U.K.-based integration and test management company, has reportedly acquired VNCRobot, a test automation solution. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Officials at T-Plan said that the acquisition took place after a rigorous evaluation of number of acquisition opportunities in the test automation market. The company took over VNCRobot as a part of a strategic plan to adopt 'Agile' (News - Alert) methodology which is becoming increasingly important to its customers.

Steve Marshall, CEO of T-Plan, said the company sees significant value for customers and shareholders as a result of this deal. He said that acquiring the VNCRobot Automation business was logical extension to their existing proposition, and saw strong growth potential in current market.

"With continued growth in our Quality Solutions Portfolio and a strengthening of our management team we are in a great position to quickly realise the benefits of this acquisition,” Marshall said.

Officials at T-Plan said they were impressed with the VNCRobot architecture as it provides full cross platform support and utilizes the Java programming language to extend the functionality rather than a proprietary language. This provides a global reach for the Test Automation solution. Users are represented across the major platforms in the following proportions: Windows 75 percent, Linux 15 percent and others 10 percent.

Moreover, VNCRobot solution blends well with T-Plan Quality Solutions suite by automating the actions of the end user, enabling highly manual elements of the testing process to be automated, dramatically reducing the regression testing cycle and replacing highly labor intensive manual activity with an efficient automated process.

T-Plan hopes to benefit from the 'end to end' product portfolio and a larger combined customer base, including a significant number of blue-chip organizations, while strategically penetrating important U.S. technology market.

"As IT projects get more and more complex, integration of a standalone testing tool into a test management framework is a logical step to achieve structured and organized approach to the whole QA process with predictable costs and results,” Robert Pes, VNCRobot managing director, said in a statement. “Impressed with the T-Plan test management product line, as well as the company culture, I'm pleased to bring VNCRobot to their portfolio, and I am convinced that integration of our products will create a compelling proposition unmatched in the QA industry."
