Delve, Akamai Offer Comprehensive, Innovative Video Publishing Solution

Delve Networks, a provider of video platforms, reportedly announced a strategic relationship with Akamai Technologies, Inc. for offering customers a comprehensive and innovative video publishing solution. This includes video management and delivery including support for next generation variable bit rate streaming technologies.

Akamai (News - Alert) powers rich media, dynamic transactions and enterprise applications online. Delve’s solution provides customers with solutions for publishing video online, including video content ingestion, encoding, content management, syndication, analytics, monetization, content delivery, APIs, multiple device port and search besides also customizing video players.

The Delve platform is simple and at the same time powerful and it forms a simple point-and-click user interface which makes publishing online video easy. Users can launch a high-quality video on their Web site with a player customized according to the Web site’s branding, Delve said.

“Delve is excited to team with Akamai to offer customers a complete video management solution utilizing Akamai's global network,” said Alexander Castro, CEO of Delve Networks, in a statement. “Our joint effort will help us reach many more customers than we could reach alone. Increasingly we are looking for leading partners who can help us provide the best in video management and solutions for our customers. We can think of no one better than Akamai to work with.”

Tim Napoleon, chief strategist for Digital Media at Akamai, said that a fast, efficient media distribution workflow based on industry standards is required for any successful online business.

Delve’s video platform provides unique and innovative capabilities like cloud-based architecture and search inside and is both technologically advanced and easy to use.
It is a video solution that uses cloud computing for enabling publishers to handle high quality video delivery and pay for what they use only. This allows publishers to manage spikes in demand and also removes the hurdle of purchasing, deploying and maintaining hardware and software.

Customers can also benefit from the rich set of APIs exposed by the Delve cloud platform for building custom online video applications.

The video platform also includes patented semantic video technology which derives information from within the video for providing enhanced search, meta-data tagging and indexing capabilities. It allows consumers to search inside the video itself and go directly to the required point in the video. This is expected to increase engagement and reduce abandonment.

Akamai’s Media Delivery Services enables Delve to deliver enhanced viewing experience, including HD-quality video. Akamai also supports Adobe’s dynamic streaming and Microsoft’s (News - Alert) Silverlight Smooth Streaming technologies offering customers choice in delivery of online HD-quality video.
