Procera Networks, a provider of Evolved Deep Packet Inspection solutions, announced that its
PacketLogic,
PL10014, is verified by European Advanced Networking Test Center AG via Internet Evolution peer-to-peer traffic detection test, which was conducted in January 2009.
In addition, the company also announced that PL10014 outperformed competitors, such as Cisco (

According to Procera, its PacketLogic is an advanced deep packet inspection solution consisting a suite of hardware platforms, which provides accurate identification of network traffic in real-time. This fully integrated solution leverages the company's advanced identification engine and datastream recognition definition language.
Procera said that its PacketLogic hardware platforms offer a range of configurations from the entry-level 4 Mbps,
PL5600 through 2 Gbps,
PL7720. The
PL10000 series comes with capacity up to 80Gbps, and 5M subscribers per system. It consists of a modular AdvancedTCA (

PL10002 3RU or rack units,
PL10005 5RU and
PL10014 12RU. The product suite also consists of
PL1200 and the
PL1400 Statistics servers, which aggregate traffic data for further analysis.
Offering rich features in the software modules, the PacketLogic hardware platforms mainly facilitates network managers by providing access to relevant network traffic intelligence that enables network optimization, creation of appealing services and protection against malicious behavior.
According to Procera, PacketLogic is already deployed at more than 600 broadband service providers, telcos, governments and higher education campuses across the globe.
The Internet Evolution peer-to-peer traffic detection test results indicated that Procera Networks' (

Carsten Rossenhovel, managing director of the EANTC, said, "... DPI devices implement the requisite features in detection, regulation, and filtering, and offer the necessary performance and accuracy required in today's service provider environments. In other words, whether we talk about intelligent management of consumer traffic or about freeing bandwidth by throttling the massive amount of P2P traffic, the devices we tested are ready to be rolled out in service provider backbones."
Jon Linden, VP global marketing at Procera Networks, said, "The results verify our claims, but most importantly what our Tier-1 operator customers have seen in their deployments. It is disappointing that only three of the 15 invited vendors took part and chose to present the results of this comparison. Our carrier-grade PL10000 Series, like all Procera products, is built from the ground up for maximum accuracy, capacity and performance."
