Serio IT Service View Pro Delivers Instant Status About IT Services

Serio has launched IT Service View Pro to help SMEs deliver IT services that are available when customers require them. This is achieved by continuously assessing the status of these services, wherever possible by measuring the end-user experience.

The Livingston, Scotland-based company develops ITIL IT service management and helpdesk tools for small- to medium-sized businesses.

Most small and medium sized IT services companies can’t measure the uptime, downtime and availability of their systems despite the importance of these statistics. IT Service View Pro is one service that can help. The technology delivers instant status information about IT services.

According to Ray Morgan, lead engineer at Serio, during times of reduced or static budgets, there is increasing pressure on IT departments to produce systems that are always-on. Morgan said the goal of Serio is to produce something that might be used in minutes rather than days, and be flexible to grow with companies, complementing their existing IT service management tools and procedures.

The IT Service View Pro tool was developed for availability managers and those using ITIL to deliver best practice in service management. IT Service View Pro monitors IT services and computes availability statistics using plug-ins. Standard plug-ins allow monitoring of a range of servers and devices from a single monitoring tool.

The monitoring tool will gather real time statistics and produce reports on availability, downtime and mean time to recovery which can then be emailed to system managers, thereby enabling them to improve service availability. Users can also schedule reports so that they are e-mailed only at the times chosen by the recipients.

IT Service View Pro looks directly at servers, services and equipment to produce accurate information automatically. Organizations will be able to extend IT Service View Pro into their own custom enterprise applications, introduce their own plug-ins and publish systems availability statistics on their Web site.

IT Service View Pro can be set up in minutes to monitor a range of servers and devices. IT Service View Pro comes with the fully featured scripting language SerioScript. This allows users to work with device data, load custom DLLs, manipulate files, run programs and send e-mails, interacting with SNMP and WMI data. Highly configurable, IT Service View Pro enables service management to be customized, as well.

Priced at $280, IT Service View Pro is available internationally. A free version of the product, called IT Service View, is also available.
