Highland Village in Texas Chooses BridgeWave's Wireless Links

Looking to continue its reputation as the “Safest City in Texas” – according to the FBI Uniform Crime Reports – Highland Village in Texas has chosen BridgeWave Communications to provide FE60U gigabit upgradeable wireless products from BridgeWave (News - Alert) for video surveillance.

BridgeWave's FE60U gigabit upgradeable wireless products are full-rate, non-blocking, and field-upgradeable to gigabit Ethernet for future-proof outdoor point-to-point connectivity.

The Highland Village Police Department was looking for video surveillance cameras to proactively deter crime in the city. With the help of video cameras, the police communication team could quickly respond to incidents. The Highland Village now uses upgradeable gigabit wireless bridges as backhaul links for the surveillance cameras connected via wireless mesh nodes. The BridgeWave FE60U products are also used to get full-rate, full-duplex Fast Ethernet capacity.

“The City of Highland Village is a stellar example of a community effectively using technologically advanced wireless video surveillance networks,” said Amir Makleff, chief executive officer at BridgeWave. “Additionally, with BridgeWave's products, Highland Village can adapt to future bandwidth requirements using gigabit wireless links, thus ensuring the use of high performance video cameras that will let Highland Village preserve its record as the safest city in Texas.”

The Highland Village can now have sharp images as the camera moves to a new subject almost instantaneously as the wireless links allow officers at the monitoring station to utilize the camera's full pan-tilt-zoom function with little delay. The FE60U links can easily be upgraded to full-rate gigabit speeds as the network adds more cameras. The village can also pan and tilt the camera views to monitor various areas with the help of the BridgeWave backhaul network and high-resolution cameras in place.

Recently, Franciscan Health System (FHS) selected BridgeWave’s unlicensed 60 GHz, AdaptRate (AR) 60 radio (shown below) for uninterrupted gigabit connectivity and extremely low, or negligible, latency performance to assist in the deployment of multiple gigabit wireless links. These solutions provide secure transmission of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), voice, and data communications between several hospitals.
