Autodesk Implements Silver Peak's Network Centric Approach for WAN Acceleration

Silver Peaks has stated that its systems have been deployed by Autodesk (News - Alert) globally for WAN acceleration. Silver Peak's NX appliances enable Autodesk to enhance WAN performance which in turn increases the performances of key business apps and also to provide detailed visibility into application behavior across the WAN.

Autodesk by implementing Silver Peak’s (News - Alert) network centric approach for WAN optimization was able to bring down operational costs, increase employee productivity and realize a faster, more efficient software development process.

Silver Peak deals in Wide Area Network (WAN) acceleration and the company’s NX appliances optimize all current and future applications across an entire enterprise, making Silver Peak strategic to a variety of core business initiatives, such as server centralization, real-time collaboration and disaster recovery. Autodesk deals in 2D and 3D design and engineering software.

Silver Peak leverages a variety of real-time network optimization techniques to maximize application performance across the WAN while minimizing IT operational costs. These techniques include: network acceleration to overcome WAN latency, network integrity to correct packet loss and WAN quality problems and network memory to maximize WAN bandwidth utilization.

Silver Peak claims that it is the only WAN acceleration vendor that performs real-time deduplication at the network layer of the OSI stack (layer 3). By avoiding application-specific schemes, the Silver Peak solution optimizes all IP applications including file, email, Web, SQL, RDP, Voice over IP (VoIP), streaming video, Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDI), real-time data replication, and remote backup.

Silver Peak says that WAN accelerators like all network products works with any IP based application. The ‘application centric’ approach to WAN optimization where application vendors have to constrain their software and data formats to accommodate proprietary WAN acceleration is fundamentally flawed.

Only Silver Peak's network centric approach to WAN optimization lets enterprises deploy applications like Microsoft Exchange, AutoCAD, Interwoven (News - Alert), and hundreds of others without looking over their shoulder every time a new release is introduced. This unique network approach to WAN acceleration delivers unprecedented scalability, including the highest effective throughput of any WAN acceleration device and also makes Silver Peak Systems ideal for large enterprise networks and applications with high sustained data volumes.

Actel (News - Alert)  had selected Silver Peak's NX appliances to assist with the company's data center consolidation and global Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) initiatives and Silver Peak had announced new support between the company’s NX appliances and EMC Smarts IP Availability Manager and Performance Manager.
