Vector Networks has launched PC-Duo v11.3, a new version of its PC-Duo PC Remote Control product. The latest version provides server-side support for thin client sessions under Citrix and Windows Terminal Server.
The company said while many customers with thin clients rolled out to particular groups of users, the rest continue to run Windows locally on traditional PCs and laptops. This creates a heterogeneous environment, according to Kevin Kiley, Vector’s vice president of sales and marketing, who adds that the need for user support is consistent across all groups of users.
People think that robust remote control may not be needed in Citrix environments since it satisfies many remote scenarios. Kiley said this is not true because a robust remote control solution such as PC-Duo is still in high demand for these environments for user support, training, and troubleshooting events.
PC-Duo is already in widespread use with a variety of virtualized Windows environments, and according to officials, v11.3 can address virtually the entire spectrum of Windows environments in its general corporate, education, health, finance and government markets.
The company has rolled in some bug fixes and improvements to the user-mode screen capture with v11.3. Erick Yanez, Vector’s Montreal-based vice president of development said customers will see a tangible improvement in speed on Vista and Server 2008. The company also intends to support Windows 7 as soon as they see user adoption.
Vector Networks specializes in solutions for desktop asset and service management. The company was in news last month for
announcing that their flagship Asset Manager Pro delivers compliance-critical IT Asset Management functionality over the Web.
The new capability allows IT Administrators accustomed to visibility and control of PCs on the LAN, to extend their reach to mobile assets over the Internet.
