Mashery Selects Internap Network Services Corporation

Mashery, a cloud-based API (Application Programming Interface) infrastructure management company, has selected Internap to assume managed server duties for premium customers.

Internap (News - Alert) officials said that Mashery will use Internap’s managed-server infrastructure as a backup solution for both standard and enterprise service customers.

“Despite, and perhaps driven by, a sluggish economy, Mashery has seen rapid growth. Best Buy, MTV, New York Times and Netflix are among a growing list of industry leaders relying on Mashery to manage their APIs,” said Oren Michels, co-founder and CEO, Mashery in a statement.

Michels said that the company chose Internap after an extensive business and technical vetting process.

“We found the company had the most robust set of MSP services combined with outstanding SLAs – both of which were prerequisites for Mashery and our premium-service customers,” said Michels.

In 2008, Internap expanded its managed-server offering to a global footprint, which was also significant factor in the successful bid for the Mashery business.

“Internap has demonstrated its unique strength in meeting the requirements of companies like Mashery for 100 percent uptime in all aspects of their online business activities,” said Randal Thompson, vice president of global sales, Internap.

Thompson said that by relying on Internap to be the experts in managing servers and network connectivity, Mashery can keep the focus on expanding its core business of managing APIs for customers.

Internap is an Internet solutions company that provides The Ultimate Online Experience by managing, delivering and distributing applications and content with 100 percent performance and reliability.

With a global platform of data centers, managed Internet services and a content delivery network (CDN), Internap frees its customers to innovate, improve service levels, and lower the cost of IT operations.

Back in May Internap Network Services Corporation had announced signing of Realtime Worlds, an independent video game developer and publisher, to a three-year agreement for services supporting the launch of its first online game: APB (All Points Bulletin). Realtime Worlds will be using a combination of Internap’s Performance IP, Content Delivery Network (CDN), premise-based route-optimization technology and international data centers to support its rapidly growing business — one increasingly focused on the online gaming sector.
