Global Crossing Completes Buenos Aires Data Center Expansion

Global Crossing, an IP solutions provider with an integrated global IP-based network, announced it has completed its data center expansion in Buenos Aires. The new electrical subsystem will increase power by 120 percent, enabling the data center to serve more customers.

The area of the data center operations will be extended by 115 sq. meters in the first stage along with new office space. St a time when investments are usually deferred due to the economic slowdown, Global Crossing (News - Alert) is reinforcing its commitment to customers by providing more and better services, according to Juan Carlos Martinez, senior vice-president of data center services, security, and outsourcing for Global Crossing Latin America.

The data center solutions of Global Crossing provide services like housing, hosting, processing storage, backup, monitoring and security. Customers also receive a secure data management for their technological platform and applications without the expense of a customer premise-based solution. The Argentina data center has implemented green initiatives like implementing server virtualization and reducing energy consumption to reduce its carbon footprint. The company’s "bottom up" approach consists of understanding its customers' needs and adjusting its facilities to meet these needs in an energy efficient manner.

The newly expanded data center is part of Global Crossing's Latin America Data Centers Network. All the data centers in the network are designed to perform to similar standards, following identical processes and offer comparable products. This gives a consistent solutions portfolio in every country that they operate to regional operators.

The data center footprint of Global Crossing offers collocation facilities in 60 major cities, and 17 world-class data centers focused on managed services.

The security solutions from Global Crossing protect a company's sensitive information and safeguard hardware, software and license investments. The solutions also minimize loss and claim risks. On demand solutions allow customers to use only what they require, whenever they require it. Continuity solutions provide preventive tools and redundancy capabilities to help minimize potential financial contingency risks.

Most of Global Crossing's data centers in Latin America have received a Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS (News - Alert)) 70 review. This auditing standard evaluates the design and operating effectiveness of controls that have specific objectives, such as the security of financial information. This review simplifies the auditing processes of business and saves them time and reduces their costs. The Security Operation Center (SOC) of Global Crossing has also been certified by the ISO 9001:2000 international standard for quality control and satisfaction management.
