Microsoft to deliver a range of service oriented offerings such as unified communications technologies, virtualization, Microsoft (

Alert) BPOS hosted services and security solutions integration.

Alert) sells products and services to resellers, systems integrators and service providers and claims to have expertise in convergence of voice, data and video applications and technologies, including voice-over Internet protocol, or VoIP, security for networking and communications systems, remote access, Internet and e-business, virtual private networks, videoconferencing and wireless connectivity.

Alert), executive vice president, the Americas of Westcon Group, noted that the agreement with Microsoft represents an important part of their solutions offering and will have a positive impact on both their reseller customer base and vendor community.
As per the agreement, Westcon's sales and business development teams will work along with Microsoft to identify sales opportunities for channel partners, primarily targeting the enterprise and mid-markets. Both the companies even plan to roll out educational resources, such as webinars and learning portals in the coming days.
"Westcon's deep networking experience and reseller-focused services will allow us to very quickly scale opportunities in the VoIP and SIP communications areas," Rob Moyer, director of U.S. distribution of Microsoft, in a statement."This year and beyond, a large part of our strategy is centered on unified communications and S+S. Westcon's heritage as a VoIP and security player, combined with their highly-focused vendor portfolio and loyal customer base, makes them a very natural fit to our strategy moving forward."
Specifically, the new offerings from both the companies will enable the distributor to provide complementary support packages around these services that include staging, integration, logistics, onsite deployment and telephone support in addition to its award winning pre-sales technical support.
"Our customers are continually looking for ways to help end-users streamline their operations and use resources more efficiently, while our vendor partners are always looking to create and maintain new opportunities in growth technologies,” Daley added. “Microsoft will help us establish a common set of world-class services offerings across our entire North American customer and vendor universe."

The agreement calls on Verizon Business to expand its global logistics reach and provide multinational enterprises with just-in-time delivery of critical communications equipment and services, the report said.
