Tripwire has announced the launch of the first virtualization management solution to solve real business needs for virtualization administrators.
The new release, vWire, has been designed to integrate change and configuration awareness into Virtual Infrastructure (VI) management. The solution continuously monitors the state of virtual systems and correlates data with critical events to provide context and insight into potential issues. Once this process is complete, it acts to prevent and resolve problems that cause downtime.
Tripwire designed vWire after collecting feedback from the virtualization community and hopes the solution will introduce a greater level of control and visibility over virtual environments.
Thanks to vWire, virtual infrastructure managers will be able to reduce the time they earlier spent on troubleshooting system failures. The solution provides IT organizations with a number of benefits such as optimization of their virtual infrastructures, and a reduction in downtime. The solution also helps them to improve reliability, and reduce operating costs through automated monitoring and problem detection.
VMware and Tripwire creates tools that give customers a holistic view of their virtualized environments while improving operational compliance of these systems, explained Shekar Ayyar, vice president, infrastructure alliances, VMware.
He noted that Tripwire’s new vWire extends the robust management capabilities of VMware solutions. The enhanced solutions now provide increased visibility and help troubleshoot problems quickly.
Users will find it easy to set up vWire and will need no special training to use the software. Once the solution is installed with sufficient licenses and credentials, it automatically starts recording and analyzing the status of the entire virtual infrastructure.
Tripwire notes Stephen Beaver, co-author of two books on virtualization, and Tripwire Virtualization Evangelist. He finds virtualization to be unique as there can be thousands of unique configuration properties in a virtual infrastructure, and the number quickly goes up when users consider multiple objects.
This issue is effectively addressed by vWire’s configuration automation. This gives virtual administrators new visibility enabling them to effectively monitor and manage configuration, change and performance data across the virtual infrastructure.
