Sunrise Telecom Debuts XTT 5000, a 10 GigE Multi-Function Test System

Sunrise Telecom Incorporated, offering test and measurement solutions for telecom, cable and wireless networks announced the introduction of the XTT 5000, a compact and powerful 10 Gigabit Ethernet multi-function test system.

This new lightweight field test system helps in the easy installation and maintenance of carrier-grade Ethernet and Internet Protocol (IP) services. Field technicians will benefit from an all-inclusive test system for installation and maintenance of both 1 GigE and 10GigE networks.

“The delivery of video services to residential users and enterprises, along with the increasing number of residential and mobile wireless services subscribers, is accelerating the demand for Ethernet bandwidth and Quality of Service,” said Prathima Bommakanti, Senior Research Analyst, Test and Measurement, Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert).

“This trend is likely to be a strong driving force behind the future success of the Ethernet test equipment market. The XTT 5000 is well positioned to meet both service providers’ and carriers’ need for a one-stop-shop solution as it combines 1 GigE and 10 GigE Carrier Ethernet testing,” she added.

The XTT 5000 is capable of performing tests simultaneously and independently at full line rates over its three test ports for 10/100 Mbit, 1 GigE and 10 GigE. Also the advanced traffic generation up to Layer 4 including stacked VLAN (Q-IN-Q) and MPLS allow full testing of wholesale and retail Ethernet deployments.

The presence of a built-in test time feature give the user an estimate of the length of time a test will take at the configuration stage for optimizing test execution and technician productivity. The latency feature helps reduce RFC2544 test time by nearly 50 percent for improving the field- engineer’s effectiveness and customer convenience.

Bahaa Moukadam (News - Alert), Sunrise Telecom’s Vice President of Marketing noted that top tier communications service providers are severely constrained by reduced CapEx and OpEx budgets. But their customers demand state-of-the-art services and performance.  He added that the XTT 5000, will help service providers as it is an Ethernet test system, which provides comprehensive Carrier Ethernet services testing in a compact and highly usable package.

Sunrise revealed that a new application-based user interface optimizes testing time at the same time minimizing configuration and training. Technicians will be able to save profiles for repetitive tests thereby hastening future installations and troubleshooting by reducing set-up time. The XTT 5000 is a compact and lightweight 10 GigE test set weighing just 6 pounds and measuring 9.3 x 7 inches.

Sunrise Telecom’s (News - Alert) products allow service providers to deliver premium voice, video, data and digital multimedia services reliably and rapidly.
