Octasic Selects Hakuto as Distribution Partner in Japan

Octasic Inc., a provider of media and wireless modem processing silicon and software solutions, has reportedly selected Hakuto Co., Ltd as its distributor Partner in Japan.

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Hakuto distributes electronic components and semiconductor devices and has partnerships with over 200 high-tech suppliers worldwide. As per the new distribution agreement, Hakuto will provide sales support for Octasic's (News - Alert) hardware and software solutions to communications equipment manufacturers in Japan.

"As a company committed to delivering cutting-edge technologies and contributing to the development of Japanese industries, we are pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Octasic," said Takeshi Inaba, semiconductor device manager at Hakuto.

He said that, by supporting Octasic's full line of media processing solutions, they are able to round out their portfolio of top-of-the-line semiconductor solutions and demonstrate their commitment to bringing remarkably high-performance products to their customers.

Octasic's product family includes its Vocallo BTS, a fully integrated digital signal processor sub-system optimized for Layer 1 GSM/EDGE base station applications, the Vocallo MGW, a media gateway solution that increases system density while reducing system cost by delivering the lowest power per channel, and the OCT6100 series of echo cancellation and voice quality enhancement devices.

Octasic's products are built using clock-less Opus DSP core architecture, which claims to provide the highest performance-to-power ratio in the industry. According to the company, their pristine voice and video quality algorithms make a good combination to reduce developers system cost while enhancing total solution quality.

Thanks to Vocallo MGW's flexible architecture, media gateway designers are able to match an offering to their specific requirements, as well as create a host of new products from a single product development.

"Hakuto has an extensive reach and solid reputation in providing technical sales support for semiconductor devices," said Fabio Gambacorta, vice president of sales and business development at Octasic. "This partnership will allow us to better serve our customers in Japan and respond quickly to their needs."
