Avocent Expands Line of LCD Console Trays for Data Centers

The simplicities in life make everyone happy. It could be argued that when there is a task to be done, having the tools to get it done quickly, efficiently and with ease makes everyone’s life better.

Avocent Corporation a provider of IT operations management recently announced the availability of the new 19” LCD console tray for data centers that allows IT administrators to conduct diagnostics quickly and effectively at the rack level.

How simple can it get?

“The expansion of our LCD console tray product line represents continued innovation for Avocent (News - Alert), marking the full transition of assets from Avocent’s acquisition of Ergo2000 in 2008,” said Avocent Director of Product Marketing Carla White. “Our mission remains the same, to provide IT operations professionals with a full range of innovative solutions that streamlines and simplifies operations, to provide greater opportunity for cost savings from the desktop to the data center.”

Before, data centers administrators’ relied on rolling crash carts or mobile computing units to troubleshoot server or equipment issues, company officials said. The latest LCD tray offering from Avocent helps data centers and also offers a USB pass-through feature that provides access to the server from the tray’s USB port.

The 19” LCD console tray takes up 1U of rack space and can connect to Avocent KVM appliances within that same space. The 17” model features a screen closure switch that automatically powers down to the LCD when the unit is closed.

“The LCD console trays reinforce Avocent’s ongoing commitment to innovation in power conservation and greening of the data center, as well as improving our customer’s bottom line with greater cost savings,” said Avocent CTO and Executive Vice President Corporate Strategy Ben Grimes (News - Alert). “With the advent of our screen closure switch, customers can now reduce their power usage and prevent unintended heat generation in their data center racks.”

Avocent company officials say that the LCD console tray increases productivity and efficiency by enhancing rack access for managing physical or virtual servers.

The full line of Avocent’s LCD console tray solutions is now available.
