Airtel Launches Low-Cost Online Computer for its Broadband Customers

Signaling its entry into the cloud computing space, Bharti Airtel has launched Airtel (News - Alert) Net PC – a low-cost online computer for its broadband customers. According to Airtel, the new service offers all the facilities of a PC at a fraction of the cost.

 

The Airtel Net PC is powered by Nivio and Microsoft (News - Alert). It makes use of Windows-based Online Desktop to offer a user friendly operating system to its customers. It also provides a 10 GB space to store documents, photos, presentations at a central location. The company also claims that it provides 100 percent data security.

 

The Airtel Net PC provides various broadband plans to choose with the PC. There is Home Pack, which comes at Rs 699 per month gives an Airtel broadband connection at 256 Kbps speed with 3 GB Data Transfer. It provides an Online Desktop service with 10 GB storage.

Srinivas, Joint President -Telemedia Services, Bharti Airtel (News - Alert) said, “Airtel’s entry into the space of cloud computing, with the launch of the NetPC, is part of our strategic intent to remain focused on enhancing the broadband experience for our customers by offering innovative and collaborative products. This comes close on the heels of our other innovations.”

 

The company also offers plans for professionals and companies. The Professional Pack is Rs 899 per month and gives Airtel broadband connection at 256 Kbps speed with 3 GB Data Transfer PLUS an Online Desktop service with 10 GB storage. The Business Pack comes at Rs 1199 per month with Airtel broadband connection at 256 Kbps speed and 3 GB Data Transfer.

 

In April, the company introduced a new service – “My Airtel My Offer” – that allows prepaid mobile users to choose from the best offers from Airtel, cutting the clutter of offers available in the market. My Airtel My Offer is a service platform that will help the Airtel prepaid to choose the best available product/service across tariff packages, recharge denominations, validity periods, value-added service and any other local promotional offer currently available on the Airtel network.
