PhihongUSA, a provider of Power-over-Ethernet midspan solutions, has reportedly developed a single-port, Gigabit PoE extender POE16S-1AF, which can accept high power PoE from IEEE802.3at or pre-standard higher power PoE solutions.
PoE enables both power and data to be carried over an Ethernet cable providing more flexibility. With the ability to install virtually anywhere, PoE technology reportedly enables high efficiency and benefits. It allows the network switch to manage data without limiting the available power.
According to the company, the 10/100/1000 base T switch extends the reach of data and Power-over-Ethernet to 200 meters, thereby doubling the cabling distance available for remotely powering security cameras, wireless network and access controllers.
“The major benefit of Power-over-Ethernet is that it allows users to easily run power to locations that would otherwise require extensive wiring and high labor costs,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for PhihongUSA (

The company also clarified that the POE16S-1AF accepts power from IEEE802.3at Layer 1 classification or other pre-standard Phihong (

PhihongUSA’s single-port Gigabit PoE extender is designed for use within a temperature range of 0° to 55° C.
PhihongUSA specializes in cost-efficient, function-rich full power midspans. Midspans is an additional PoE power source that can be used in combination with a non-PoE Switch or a PoE Switch that is at capacity and is already in place or is about to be installed in a network.
Designed, tested and manufactured in the United States, the midspans is said to meet the current and future IEEE (
