BLADE Network Intros Cloud Ready Network Architecture and Other Products

BLADE Network Technologies, Inc. has introduced its Cloud Ready Network Architecture and products which supports it at Interop (News - Alert). BLADE provides data center networking solutions and its Cloud Ready Network Architecture includes five elements of open networking required in cloud computing and other products to build it.

BLADE’s Cloud Ready products include; FCoE-ready 10 Gigabit Ethernet blade server switch which features full 100 Gig Ethernet of uplink capacity; a 10GbE top-of-rack switching solution for IP SANs; and a virtualization solution which supports over 1,000 virtual ports suitable to form a cloud-ready data center.

“As enterprises and cloud providers seek to harness the considerable advantages of cloud computing their networks must be equipped with five essential elements -- high-bandwidth/low-latency switching, convergence to Ethernet, massive virtualization for agile workloads, scalable management and advanced energy efficiency,” said Vikram Mehta, President and CEO, BLADE Network Technologies.

“BLADE’s Cloud Ready Network Architecture is extending the performance and capabilities of data center networks from blade server to switch to SAN that will enable the scale-out performance and economies promised by cloud computing,” added Mehta.
According to BLADE the Cloud Ready innovations enable open unified networking for cloud computing environments for both service providers and internal IT providers. This includes high-bandwidth, low-latency switching and a BLADE switch which can deliver up to 100 Gbps of uplink connectivity from a blade server to core networks at low latencies for powering large scale distributed I/O.

The 10Gb Ethernet switches enable affordable scale-out networks required in cloud computing. This eliminates the need for InfiniBand in cloud computing clusters. BLADE will be launching an FCoE-ready blade server switch with the loss-less switching required for converged data and storage networking.

The VMready switch-resident software is a networking solution which supports 1,000 or even more virtual switch ports. A virtual machine-aware network is needed in massive cloud computing environments. These VMready switches are available for IBM (News - Alert) BladeCenter and HP BladeSystem.

BLADE’s SmartConnect and BLADEHarmony Manager, enable the use of multiple switches in a rack to function as one switch. Even multiple switches located in multiple blade server chassis or across racks can operate as one large virtual switch, said BLADE.
The company supplies Gigabit and 10G Ethernet network infrastructure solutions which reside in blade servers and “scale-out” server and storage racks. The virtual and cooler RackSwitch family from the company introduces Rackonomics a cost effective approach for scaling out data center networks.
