Kerio Releases MailServer 6.7 with Added Security

Kerio Technologies, a provider of information technology (IT) security and messaging solutions, has announced the availability of its cross-platform Kerio MailServer 6.7.

The new offering, “improves the security and manageability of email-based collaboration for small and medium sized organizations looking for more efficient team collaboration.”

In this latest version of MailServer, Kerio has added a new Global Address list (GAL). Additionally, it has been enhanced with anti-spam protection and support for Debian and Ubuntu (News - Alert) Linux.
The Global Address List provides users with an easy way to access and view contact information in their corporate directory. This is done with the help of a groupware client such as Microsoft Outlook. Additionally Kerio GAL is synchronized with Microsoft Active Directory, Apple (News - Alert) Open Directory and Kerio's own user directory.

Kerio has included an IMAP Migration Tool to enable easy movement of email messages from another IMAP-based email server system to Kerio MailServer. Kerio IMAP Migration Tool runs on Windows, Mac OS X or Linux and transfers domains, accounts, folders and email messages from any local or hosted IMAP server to Kerio MailServer.
“The Kerio Global Address List dramatically simplifies the management of contact information, which has always been a pain in growing organizations,” said Tomas Soukup, product development manager for Messaging at Kerio. “Because new users are dynamically added to the Kerio GAL, they immediately gain access to names, job titles, email addresses, phone numbers, or postal addresses of all their colleagues.”

According to John Simmonds, vice president of Syncron CyberKare Technologies, Kerio’s new global address list is immediately displayed on mobile devices and allows users within an organization to access everyone from anywhere, anytime.

By adding native support for the Apple iCal CalDAV, Kerio GAL enhances the client experience with private and shared calendars, Simmonds added. Also, with the new IMAP tool, enabling seamless data transfer from any server, enabling the company to switch their customers to Kerio MailServer.

Kerio MailServer 6.7 is enhanced with an anti-spam gateway, optimized to take advantage of multi-CPU servers with speed improvements derived from the fast parallel processing of email messages.
