The company is reportedly upgrading both the V-Factor Quality of Experience (QoE) monitoring platform and the Q-1000 Source Video Analyzer. This is expected to offer broadcasters, operators and equipment vendors with better monitoring and troubleshooting of digital video quality besides quantifying the impact of new technologies like statistical multiplexing and advanced compression.
“By delivering accurate assessments of end user video quality and pinpointing specific issues in real-time, the V-Factor platform simplifies management for video operators and facilitates customer satisfaction, helping to accelerate growth of IP-based video services,” said Matthieu Chamik, product manager, QoE Solutions at Symmetricom.
Chamik added, “These recent enhancements keep the V-Factor platform on the cutting-edge of monitoring, well ahead of the competition, helping to eliminate service disruptions that can lead to high technical support costs and customer churn.”
The V-Factor platform features extended monitoring capabilities such as RFC 4445 Media Delivery (MDI (

Graphical components provide channel and multiple program transport stream (MPTS) views for trouble shooting program and multiplex related issues.
The Q-1000 Source Video Analyzer supports the V-Factor platform upgrade and also the HD-SDI time codes (SMPTE RP188) and input profiles. This allows users to change input parameters for optimizing the MOS calculation for expert applications like digital archiving and golden eye automation tests. The Q-1000 provides target profiles which help content producers, programmers and broadcasters to define the target display for their content so that it suits three-screen convergence quality validation.
