Ocean Spray Cranberries Modernize IT Operations with ORSYP Software

ORSYP Software, a global provider of IT operations management solutions and services, announced that Ocean Spray Cranberries, Inc. selected ORSYP Dollar Universe to replace its existing legacy solution. The cranberry company wanted to create a service-oriented data center to modernize and automate its IT operations.

Dollar Universe version 5, certified by SAP (News - Alert) AG and powered by the SAP NetWeaver technology platform, replaced the custom middleware, coding and support provided by a third party, company officials said.

Ocean Spray officials said that the nine major manufacturing locations operate using a complex IT infrastructure that allows each plant to supply chain from growing, harvesting, processing, packaging and shipping to various back-office processes.

ORSYP eliminated the need for a master system and reduced Ocean Spray's RS/6000 hardware requirement and maintenance costs as well as the risk associated with a master failure.

“ORSYP Dollar Universe consolidated two legacy products into a single solution and reduced scheduling definitions and calendars by 40 percent. It has also allowed us to automate infrastructure architecture for our mission critical Warehouse Management System, where we decreased support call volume by 90 percent," said John Goodfellow, Systems and Operations Manager, Ocean Spray.

ORSYP officials said that Ocean Spray now also has automated back-up and disaster recovery from three hours to ten minutes, five percent of the previously required time, and increased visibility and transparency of warehouse operations between corporate and manufacturing locations.

Ocean Spray is also using ORSYP's Dollar Universe “Scheduling-as-a-Service," for its job scheduling needs with end-to-end automation. With Dollar Universe, officials said Ocean Spray was able to identify process improvement and automation opportunities, allowing it to improve back-up and disaster recovery and warehouse management activities.

"At first, no one here looked at job scheduling as a platform for automation. But using ORSYP Dollar Universe we have been able to contain costs, optimize our workforce and align IT with business services,” said Goodfellow.

ORSYP also announced today that it has joined the SAP PartnerEdge program as an SAP software solution partner.

"We are honored to be a member of the SAP PartnerEdge program. The program offers companies like ORSYP tremendous benefits such as accelerated innovation and lead generation,” said Mark Fletcher, Chief Marketing Officer, ORSYP Software.

“SAP has done great work to grow and expand its ecosystem, and this partnership level will enable us to fortify our relationship with SAP to expand along with them," Fletcher said.

Through the program, ORSYP and partners will work closely with SAP to develop and certify the technical integration of their solutions with SAP software.
