Zephyr Announces PASSPORT PC TO HOST 2009

Zephyr Development Corporation, which develops advanced terminal emulation and host integration solutions for Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows, has announced an upgrade to its PASSPORT PC TO HOST 2007, the company’s terminal emulation software that is Certified for Windows Vista.

The new PASSPORT PC TO HOST Version 2009-403 features terminal emulation for Windows 7 and has been tested with advance releases of Windows 7 which found the terminal emulation to be fully compatible, officials said.

Given that PASSPORT PC TO HOST 2009 offers terminal emulation for Windows 7, Zephyr considers this version to be a critical release. Other features included in the latest release include language localization, and enhanced error messaging.

“When Microsoft releases Windows 7, Zephyr will ensure that PASSPORT PC TO HOST 2009 receives appropriate Microsoft certification,” officials said.

Like its predecessor models, the new PASSPORT also supports international keyboards and host code pages. Additionally, in the new version, the installation process, Quick Start user guides and configuration menus can now be viewed in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.

Founded in 1985, Zephyr offers desktop and browser-based terminal emulation, as well as client and server-based host integration software, allowing organizations to access IBM (News - Alert) mainframe (3270), AS/400 (5250) and UNIX (VT, SCO ANSI and Wyse) applications from a Microsoft Windows desktop or server platform.

Zephyr had launched the PASSPORT terminal emulation software in the Fall of 2008. PASSPORT can be used to integrate Visual Basic and C++ applications with legacy applications on the Windows desktop like RUMBA.
