Verizon Business Expands IT Consulting Services Portfolio

Verizon (News - Alert) Business has announced that it is expanding its portfolio of global professional consulting services by adding seven new IT consulting services. The new professional application-assessment and storage services will be available in the United States, Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

These new services are aimed at “addressing the need for global enterprises to optimize the performance of applications operating on their networks and to securely store the growing volume of corporate data.”

Verizon Business' (News - Alert) strategic services, which include Internet Protocol (IP), Ethernet and security solutions, represent a significant growth area for the company. From this business area, Verizon Business recorded revenue of $1.5 billion in the first quarter 2009, up 7.5 percent from the first quarter 2008.

The new standardized suite of Network Application Assessment professional services are is designed to address periodic local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) performance issues, officials said.

The application-assessment service enables customers to reactively or proactively review the health of their applications and networks and identify potential areas for remediation. The service consists of three focus areas: critical business problem resolution, application infrastructure analysis, and network health assessment.

Verizon Business says storage consideration is key a focus area among enterprises. With the new storage services offering, Verizon Business experts will be able to help organizations assess existing storage configurations as well as design and build new storage solutions that help them meet their IT requirements and data storage regulations.

Verizon Business is now also offering four new storage consulting services. They include storage assessment, database assessment and design, database backup/replication assessment and storage integration.

With these services, Verizon Business is able to offer and support the entire lifecycle of data and storage solutions as part of an overall infrastructure management engagement. Companies can rely on these solutions to meet any specific needs such as virtualization, data replication, database configuration, or transition from a distributed data configuration to storage area network (SAN) architecture.

Verizon Business’ global professional consulting services portfolio consists of more than 50 professional-service capabilities in four key practice areas: Security Solutions, IT Solutions, Network Engineering and Integration Services, and Communications Solutions. These are delivered by professionals certified and trained in the respective areas.

In the first quarter 2009, Verizon Business added a new portfolio of converged solutions to address the security and performance challenges faced by large corporations. They include Virtual Discovery and Classification service, Vulnerability Management Service for Data Center Colocation customers and Secure Virtualization Design service.
