Winn-Dixie Expands Teradata Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Capacity

Teradata Corporation, a company specializing in data warehousing and enterprise analytics announced that Winn-Dixie Stores, has expanded its Teradata (News - Alert) Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) capacity for catering to the increase in analytic demand from corporate and retail users.
 
Winn-Dixie is a large food retailer and it owns 520 stores in 2 in the Southern United States. The expanded capacity will support the analysis and reporting requirements across the company’s merchandising, supply chain and marketing departments. The reach of the database user community will be increased and more subject matter will be added to its EDW, said the company.
 
The Teradata Active Enterprise Data Warehouse platform is a multi-terabyte system which can support category management, customer analysis, and campaign management for the chain’s merchandising and marketing initiatives. Winn-Dixie uses Teradata Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software running on the Teradata EDW.
 
“Teradata has been a significant partner to Winn-Dixie over recent years and we have found their expertise, as well as their data warehouse, to be of considerable business value,” said Maura Hart, senior director, information technology for Winn Dixie. “We look forward to increasing our enterprise-class intelligence to enable timely, fact-based decisions.”
 
Dean Wold, vice president of retail sales, Teradata East commented that Winn-Dixie has plans to grow its business. It retains the confidence in Teradata systems for providing the insight and intelligence required for marketing and sales initiatives.
 
Teradata focuses mainly on raising intelligence through data warehousing, data warehousing appliances, consulting services and enterprise analytics. Besides providing active data warehousing technology which gives a single view of the enterprise in real time, Teradata also offers business intelligence analytics which uses data in imaginative ways to get maximum value.
