China Geological Survey (CGS) has selected
DataCore’s disaster recovery and high-availability storage virtualization solution to eliminate costly, storage related downtime and to ensure data availability.
DataCore Software, a provider of storage virtualization SAN software, fundamentally changes the economics of managing storage with innovative software that combines advanced functions and services with the agility and savings of hardware independence.
DataCore claims that it lowers the cost and complexity of IT by making storage efficient, fast, flexible, fail-safe and virtual.
“Before finally selecting DataCore Software, China Geological Survey comprehensively compared offerings from
IBM,
EMC,
Symantec and
FalconStor,” said Lang, chief IT officer, China Geological Survey, in a statement.
“DataCore Software solutions were the best choice in terms of reliability, scalability, support and performance. Therefore, we have decided to migrate our open server storage to the DataCore Software storage virtualization platform,” said Lang.
China Geological Survey (CGS) is a government department directly under the Ministry of Land and Resources. It is responsible for the centralized deployment and organizing implementation of the nation's basic, public and strategic geological investigation and mineral exploration, providing basic geological information and data for national economy and social development and offering public-good service for the society.
“DataCore optimizes existing storage and network investments and transforms them into business continuity and disaster recovery solutions that are cost effective and simple to use,” said Peter Thompson (

Thompson said that the bottom-line at China Geological Survey is that DataCore’s storage virtualization software has made it possible to eliminate costly downtime without paying a premium.
