Greenplum has expertise in developing and delivering massively-scalable data warehousing solutions while EMC has several years of experience in delivering industry-leading disaster recovery and high availability and manageability products.
By leveraging the CLARiiON networked storage system, Greenplum’s solution forms a SAN-based configuration for high performance and availability.
Supporting SQL and MapReduce parallel processing, Greenplum Database offers industry-leading performance at a low cost for companies managing terabytes to petabytes of data, company officials said.
Greenplum Database runs on a range of non-proprietary hardware platforms, so customers are able to store and manage ever-increasing data volumes, commented Frank Bien, vice president of Business Development at Greenplum.
With the EMC CLARiiON, Greenplum extends their efforts to deliver standards-based solutions that work with their customers' existing technology, and enables Greenplum customers to use infrastructure based on their data center standards, Bien added.
“EMC and Greenplum share a common vision for the future of computing, one in which information is becoming the single most important asset to a business,” said Chuck Hollis, EMC vice president, global marketing chief technology officer.
“The EMC CLARiiON complements Greenplum Database, ensuring that mutual customers can extract more value from their data without adding extensive cost or non-standard platforms to their data center,” Hollis added.
Back in March, TMCnet
reported that Greenplum is offering its Greenplum Database to NASDAQ OMX to manage its daily trade transaction at its U.S. markets. Greenplum’s solutions have also been used by global organizations like NYSE Euronext, Reliance Communications (
