Untangle Integrates Commtouch Technology to its Network Gateway

Untangle has stated that its users will get more protection from spam now as they have added Commtouch (News - Alert) SpamAssassin plug-in into their gateway.

Untangle Network Gateway (News - Alert) is a commercial-grade open source solution for blocking spam, spyware, viruses, adware and unwanted content on the network and it offers a free and better alternative to costly, inflexible proprietary appliances. And now with Commtouch technology integrated to the gateway Untangle users need not worry about upgrading their anti-spam services and can concentrate on their core functions.

Untangle claims that it was the first, and continues to be one of the successful, commercial-grade open source solutions for blocking spam, spyware, viruses, adware and inappropriate content on the network. Commtouch provides proven messaging and Web security technology to security companies and service providers for integration into their solutions.

Untangle Network Gateway was designed to offer a cheap and secure network environment for small businesses. And with Commtouch they will be able to provide the enhanced open-source, top notch and efficient security solutions to their clients.

Commtouch states that their plug-in for SpamAssassin allows clients to dramatically increase their detection levels of spam and malware, and save valuable resources by easily integrating Commtouch into their existing SpamAssassin implementation. By making use of Recurrent Pattern Detection technology the plug-in allows clients to preserve high detection levels in a cost effective manner without rebuilding their message handling infrastructure.

Untangle now has 14,000 active small business deployments and is expected to accelerate its growth in the coming months as more and more commercial enterprises are looking for open source software in order to accommodate themselves in this turbulent economy.

“With the current market conditions putting pressure on companies to cut back on costs, the flexibility and availability of open source software solutions should stand out,” said Avner Amram, Commtouch’s executive vice president and general manager, Americas. “Commtouch is pleased to have found a solid open source partner in Untangle. Through this relationship, we will enable Untangle to provide high quality anti-spam protection to its premium clients.”
