Black Box Intros New Network Optimizing Device called 'Optinet'

Black Box (News - Alert) Corporation, provider of voice communications, data infrastructure, and product solutions, has unveiled Optinet, a deep packet, Layer 7 inspection gateway appliance that optimizes Internet use.
 
Officials at Black Box say the new network optmizing device can also scan, identify and controls Internet traffic, and provides advanced content filtering, reporting, application prioritization, bandwidth management, and threat protection.
 
It is a secure Web gateway appliance that can be placed between corporate firewall and network switches that offers a convenient, powerful Web-based management console, according to the company.
 
The new device helps organisations to focus on their employees’ Web browsing and Internet application use by allotting more bandwidth to mission-critical sites and applications. It gives a detailed report on use activity, application traffic, and Internet threats, which helps in providing total visibility and enhances organisations ability to analyze and fix problems.
 
User can access to the content they need with real-time dynamic URL categorization, URL database matching, URL keyword search, and even deep HTML inspection.
 
Franco Tavella, Black Box Product Manager said the increase in graphics, video applications, and social networking on the Internet, bandwidth usage is exploding, including non-business-related traffic over corporate networks. IT managers are faced with the prospect of leasing more broadband capacity or completely forbidding non-business use.
 
He said that, the latest Optinet device enables IT managers to allocate slices of bandwidth based on data content for individual users or groups. With this device, managers can more efficiently use and manage their leased broadband capabilities.
Company is currently offering the Optinet devices in different ranges varying from5-Mbps up to 200-Mbps WAN capabilities. Most of the appliances feature acceleration technology, which ensures 100 percent SSL encryption.
Black Box’s portfolio includes VPNs, media converter switches, Ethernet switches, as well as products from other leading manufacturers, such as Cisco (News - Alert) and HP. All are backed by free, live, 24/7 Tech Support.
