U.S. Army Deploys Trapeze Networks' Entire Line of FIPS�Certified Products

Trapeze Networks, a BELDEN brand, and a provider of wireless technology, has announced that its entire line of FIPS-certified, NonStop Wireless LAN products are now tested and approved by the United States Army Information Systems Engineering Command’s (USAISEC) Technology Integration Center located at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

 

Connecting mobile users to applications and giving them anywhere, anytime access to information, Trapeze Networks (News - Alert) offers all the components required to deploy a Non-Stop Wireless LAN for any size enterprise.

 

Trapeze Networks FIPS-Validated products include a family of Mobility System Software, a full line of Mobility Exchange controllers, and Mobility Point access points, as well as a RingMaster wireless management suite.

 

The Technology Integration Center of USAISEC works as the U.S. Army's critical enabling agent for infusing information technologies into total IT solutions, in addition to verifying and validating vendor claims.

 

The current testing and certification of Trapeze Networks’ products was reportedly performed by the USAISEC TIC.

 

“It was only nine months ago that Trapeze Networks received FIP-certification for two of its controllers and an access point,” said Ahmet Tuncay, chief technology officer at Trapeze Networks.

 

“FIPs certification meant our products meet the nation’s most rigorous standards. Making it onto the U.S. Army’s Information Assurance Approved Vendors List means that our products will support the greatest army in the world.”

 

Trapeze Networks’ products will reach the U.S. Army through Nortel Government Solutions (News - Alert), a business operation of Nortel that delivers the services expertise, mission-critical systems and secure communications that empower the U.S. government.

 

Additionally, Trapeze Networks’ products are also available through the Project Director, Computing, Hardware and Enterprise Software Solutions contract vehicles, PD CHESS.

 

John Klopacz, vice president, sales, Nortel Government Solutions mentioned that this FIPS certification is absolutely critical for working with strategic federal government accounts.

 

Moreover, Klopacz believes that this certification will significantly strengthen the company’s wireless LAN offerings for the Department of Defense and government agencies requiring the highest security.

 

The company also revealed some of the products that are currently available to the U.S. Army which includes; MX-200R-GS - An Intelligent WLAN Controller for data center or wiring closet deployment that supports up to 192 access points, MX-216R-GS - an Intelligent WLAN Controller for data center or wiring closet deployment that supports up to 192 access points and features 16 POE ports, MP-422F – a Dual-radio Indoor Wireless Access Point (News - Alert) for 802.11a and 802.11b/g.
