SkyeTek Launches Desktop USB Reader, Writer for UHF Applications

SkyeTek, Inc., a provider of RFID reader and software technology, has launched SR70 Desktop USB reader/writer for UHF applications.

SkyeTek officials say the SR70, which incorporates the company’s M7 reader technology, and the SkyeReader Console software combine to deliver reliable performance and plug-and-play usability.

"The SR70 extends SkyeTek's position as a leading provider of reader module technology into the category of off-the-shelf, finished RFID readers," said Rob Balgley, CEO of SkyeTek, in a statement.

Balgley said module customers consistently ask the company to develop finished RFID readers based on its award-winning reader technology. He said the SR70 represents first response to those requests.

Balgley said the feedback has been exceedingly positive, with several customers having already placed production orders prior to general availability. Given this success, the SR70 will be the first in a line of finished RFID readers offered by SkyeTek that will cover applications on the desktop as well as those for standard-size doorways and smart-cabinets.

The company claims the SR70 is an excellent match for reading and writing to tagged items and documents in desktop applications such as tag (News - Alert) commissioning, shipping/receiving, point-of-sale, and check-in/check-out.

Cost, space, and power efficiency coupled with an intuitive installation process and easy-to-use software make it particularly well suited for large scale deployments across the enterprise.

SkyeTek develops reader hardware and software that enables the pervasive adoption of RFID as intelligent networking technology.

Numerous Fortune 500 and mid-market customers use SkyeTek's products in applications such as item-level inventory, product authentication, and patron management.

In January SkyeTek announced availability of the SkyeModule M10 UHF reader module designed to deliver an industry-leading combination of high performance, low cost, and compact size. Leveraging SkyeTek's reader design expertise, the M10 delivers up to five meters of range, as well as robust anti-collision performance, in a package smaller than a typical business card.
