Netbooks, the internet-connected portable computers are ultra compact devices that are fast gaining appeal among users for easily accessing email or surfing the web. Wireless operators such as AT&T, T-Mobile (News - Alert) are helping stimulate the growth of netbooks by offering subsidized netbooks with mobile broadband service plans.

The new LogMeIn partner program offers OEMs and wireless operators ways to pre-install LogMeIn products for remote access and support on the netbook which will enable users to have easy access to their full-featured remote PC or Mac.

Limited processing power and memory reduces the capability of netbooks running all the applications a user might want, or storing significant amounts of data and documents. LogMeIn asserts that they have developed the partner program to introduce more users to the software while providing netbook users, many of whom will not be using their netbooks as their primary computers, with a way to access their documents and settings on their other computers.

The LogMeIn Ignition is a desktop application that lets users access any computer with LogMeIn installed without launching a web browser or remembering multiple passwords. Users can just install LogMeIn Ignition on their desktop, laptop, USB drive or U3 smart drive and free themselves with one-click connectivity from wherever they are with an Internet connection.

Under the LogMeIn Partner Program for Netbooks, organizations that manufacture or sell netbooks can offer LogMeIn Ignition pre-loaded on their netbooks, letting customers access their home or work computers quickly and easily. Manufacturers or service providers can also pre-load the LogMeIn Rescue "calling card," making the netbook "Rescue Ready" for end-users technical support.

LogMeIn has also developed a dedicated, co-branded web site for partners where customers can login to find info about LogMeIn services and ways on how to use them. The partner program also offers joint marketing and promotional opportunities that help users adopt and utilize remote access services.
