A10 Networks Launches New Generation Server Load Balancer

A10 Networks, a provider of networking and security solutions, has unveiled the AX 1000, a member of the AX Series Advanced Traffic Manager family.

Officials at A10 said the new AX 1000 was designed to meet critical business requirements in an energy-saving "green" form factor, with maximum power consumption of 158 Watts when all ports are running traffic concurrently.

The company says the new AX 1000 is ideal for enterprise server farms, which delivers competitive Web application server performance at low cost. The AX 1000 has the full suite of application delivery features available in all AX family models including SSL Hardware Acceleration, RAM Caching and HTTP Compression.

Lee Chen, founder and CEO of A10 Networks (News - Alert), said the new AX 1000 delivers strong performance in a cost-effective 1U platform for application delivery and server load balancing. He said that customers such as Microsoft (News - Alert) that require a high-performance platform for Web traffic management will experience tremendous price and performance benefit from the AX 1000.

In addition, the new AX 1000 includes A10's Advanced Core Operating System (ACOS), which leverages modern multi-core, multi-threaded software to provide performance advantages. The AX 1000 processes application traffic in parallel fashion, without the need to replicate user traffic. As a result, applications run faster with AX 1000 than competing systems on the market today, says the company.

“The AX 1000 delivers us a high-performance server load balancer in a small footprint that can easily handle large volume, 'Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) scale' network traffic," said Rich Groves, a principal architect for Microsoft. "The AX 1000 is an invaluable platform to help us research the traffic patterns for some of the Internet's largest worm outbreaks."

Babak Pasdar, president and CEO of Bat Blue Corporation, a technology consulting firm and A10 Reseller Partner, said they selected A10's AX 1000s for their managed service practice because it represents the value trinity - better, cheaper, faster - that Bat Blue has built its practice around. He said that the new AX 1000s are more innovative, high performance and cost-effective server load balancers than any other solution they found on the market.
