me2me AG Launches Converged, Voice-Enabled Web Service

The mobile voicemail experience has become as ubiquitous as using a phone, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be improved upon. Now, Swisscom (News - Alert) venture me2meAG is pushing a new tool to bring order to those cumbersome messages.

The company launched the new service in the U.S this week at the CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas.

The primary function of the me2me tool is to organize the way mobile users catalogue information by creating an “anytime and anywhere” solution that operates on any device. me2me is a convergent service that works across Web and mobile, and also across Web and voice.

Essentially it aims to offer customers a pervasive and personal Web for their daily life, according to Peter Hauser, CEO me2me.

“The current voicemail services can be cumbersome and time consuming to access and manage but me2me’s service is set to change all that,” said Hauser.

The company says me2me is offered as a subscription-based service to users, and is a solution that will generate new income for mobile and fixed line operators and improve subscriber loyalty.

With me2me, all “daily-life information” is stored in an individual database with search and retrieval functions, allowing users to add and retrieve information via any phone or PC, using voice or text, according Hauser.

me2me is geared to address these issues by adding voice enabled personal messaging Web services with new tools for its inventory of features to help users better manage voicemails.

“Combined with me2me’s wider personal messaging solution, this service will significantly improve the access and management of voice mail content for subscribers, and will generate new income for mobile and fixed line operators,” said Hauser.

"With the launch of me2me AG in the U.S. market, this effectively extends and multiplies the potential subscriber base into the millions,” said Hauser.

me2me also allows subscribers to:

* Use a single number to verbally store daily life information - those bits of important information that are always needed but often forgotten - and tag (News - Alert) it with personal terms to make it searchable later.
* Retrieve and organize information over the phone or with a free Web account.
* Have information delivered by text message instantly.
* Take complete control over their voice messages: edit, tag and organize their in- and outbox.

Provided as a managed service to operators, me2me can be rapidly deployed at a minimum cost to enrich the subscriber messaging service experience. In addition, operators can select a choice of third-party services to offer to users, enabling them to retrieve information via the Web, which they may not have previously had real-time access to.

Hauser says there is no need to download software or upgrade handsets. Users only need to call a number.

As TMCnet recently reported, 724 Solutions announced that converged service provider Swisscom is deploying its Seamless Access to power their next generation mobile Internet and mobile broadband services.
