Klocwork Helps its Avionics Software Customers to Comply with DO-178B

Helping its avionics software customers to comply with DO-178B, Klocwork has partnered with Enea to deliver a joint technology and services solution.

 

DO-178B (Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification) guides software development in the field of avionics. It determines the safety assessment process and hazard analysis by examining the effects of a failure condition in the system. The standard was developed by RTCA. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) accepts use of DO-178B as a means of certifying software in avionics.

According to the FAA directives, the software being developed for commercial airborne systems, and the development tools used on these projects, should follow the DO-178B guidance. As source code analysis tools are considered to be verification tools, each project should qualify the tool during the project's certification process.

By taking use of Enea's (News - Alert) DO-178B expertise, Klocwork Insight's advanced source code analysis capabilities help the customers to achieve credit for numerous several of DO-178B certification. To streamline the qualification process for DO-178B customers, the company has also developed a qualification kit and documentation.

In October last year, the company announced that C# static source code analysis capabilities have been added to Klocwork Insight. With this release, Klocwork introduced an all new compilation and analysis technology to provide the most accurate and customizable solution for identifying critical bugs in C#. The company states that it developed the engine in response to market and customer demand for Klocwork's deep static source code analysis.
