Raydium Standardizes on Laker Custom Layout System

SpringSoft, a provider  of specialized IC design software, announced that Raydium Semiconductor Corporation, an IC solution provider of TFT-LCD driver ICs, has standardized on the Laker Custom Layout System.

The TFT-LCD driver ICs are used in large and small display panel products. By adopting the Laker software product, Raydium can address the time-to-market pressures, cost and complexity of custom chip design for high performance, low-power LCD applications.

The Laker Custom Layout System offers powerful solutions for analog, mixed-signal, memory, and custom digital IC design that address key pain points in the layout process. The Laker layout system provides an intuitive methodology and controllable automation that allows to quickly achieving superior layout results. The Laker layout system helps to simplify the job by automating manytedious and error-prone layout tasks; maximize layout skills using advanced automation that you control; minimize  CAD support requirements; and reduce overall cost of design.

Raydium has been a long-time Laker system customer and has integrated the powerful rules-driven automation and device-level features into its standard design layout methodologies. There ha been 50 percent time savings during layout operations, with the use of patented Laker Magic Cell (MCell) technology that automates device generation, editing, and manipulation, and the Laker schematic-driven layout (SDL) flow to comprehend the physical implementation and related ECOs.

According to Chin-Chieh Chao, vice president of Development Center at Raydium, the company is continuously fine-tuning methodologies and tool flows, to improve the efficiency of designs and layout teams.

“We’ve been using the Laker system for more than four years now because it provides the most efficient platform for custom layout. The time our engineers save in layout by using Laker is spent creating the highest quality designs, which is critical to our success in becoming the trusted IC partner for our customers,”  said Chao.

“Our aim is to save engineers time,” said Duncan McDonald, director of Custom IC Product Marketing at SpringSoft. “We’re happy to see that customers like Raydium are taking advantage of our unique Laker technology so they can spend more time adding value to their designs.”
