NETGEAR Debuts ReadyNAS Vault

NETGEAR has introduced ReadyNAS Vault for individual consumers and small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). ReadyNAS Vault is NETGEAR’s new online backup and disaster-recovery service and is available for all versions of NETGEAR’s family of ReadyNAS products.

Individual business customers and SMBs often do not give a lot of priority to data backup. But if there is a loss of data, the loss to the business can be fatal and it can result in increased expenditure and loss of reputation with the clients. So, companies such as NETGEAR are trying to offer high class backup services that fit in the budgets of these segments.

According to NETGEAR, ReadyNAS Vault is a simple, economical online backup service built right into all ReadyNAS systems. It allows the customers to regularly and securely copy data to a storage facility and recover data from any Web browser and any Internet location.

“As data becomes even more critical, consumers and businesses alike are increasingly interested in Internet 'cloud-based' storage as added insurance for their own storage infrastructure. However, consumers and SMBs have historically lacked the necessary expertise and resources to do so, despite having just as pressing a need as larger businesses," said Paul Tien, vice president and general manager of NETGEAR's Network Storage Business Unit.

With ReadyNAS, there is no need for additional infrastructure or upgrades as the necessary software is integrated into the ReadyNAS storage products. ReadyNAS Vault includes various features such as Web-based Management, Device-integrated Cloud Backup, Continuous Data Protection Options, and Fast Data Recovery. Also, ReadyNAS Vault's online interface can be used to confirm that backups have taken place, to change to backup tasks and to recover critical files.

Recently, the company announced that it will start shipping new versions of its unmanaged series of network switches, featuring new green system enhancements that facilitates in reducing the network energy requirements of small and medium-sized businesses. NETGEAR’s latest version of both rack-mounted and desktop “green” unmanaged switches have been incorporated with new hardware that features new power management modes.
