Planetary Skin.” This new program will help NASA to capture, collect, analyze and report data on environmental conditions.
With advanced technologies, many institutes and companies have been trying to improve the accuracy in predicting the weather conditions. The modern technology that has been used in sending warnings about dangerous weather conditions such as storms has saved many lives. Technologies such as the one from Cisco have been used before to predict changes in weather conditions well in advance.
The project mainly depends on Cisco’s experience and expertise in networking technologies and advanced innovation. The experts in Cisco can determine how to best prototype, replicate and scale a Planetary Skin to millions of participants as they conduct complex data analysis and modeling, and share an in-depth knowledge of the next generation Internet Protocol architectures.
“Mitigating the impacts of climate change is critical to the world's economic and social stability," said John Chambers (

Cisco is proud to work with NASA on this initiative and hopes others from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors will join us in this exciting endeavor.”
According to the agreement, Cisco will work with NASA to develop the Planetary Skin as an online collaborative platform to capture and analyze data. The data will be collected from satellite, airborne, sea- and land-based sensors across the globe. This data will be accessible to the general public, governments and companies for their use.
